Romans – Lecture 10
Life in Hope
Romans 8:18-39
Key Verse: 8:37
* Future glory (18-25)
1. Why does Paul talk about the future glory compared to the sufferings? How do the sufferings and the future glory relate to each other?
2. Why, when, from who and with which hope was the creation subjected to frustration? Which hope do we have for the world and for ourselves? (18-25) Why is this a secure hope? How do our hopes determine the direction of our life and our attitude towards life?
* God’s resolution (26-32)
3. What is God’s will and purpose for us? How does God work to fulfil this? How can we be certain that God loves us? What should this practically mean to us?
4. What did God predetermine concerning the saints? (29) Why is it such a big privilege and grace to be conformed to the likeness of the Son? Describe God’s work for us! (30)
* The victorious life (33-39)
5. What are the venomed arrows of Satan and how can we break each one of them? (31-34) Why don’t we have to fear those, who accuse or condemn us? How can we live without fear as conquerors in a cursed world?
6. How reliable is God’s love? What becomes the difference in our lives? What does it mean concerning this chapter to be a child of God? What does it mean to be more than conquerors in all these things?
